Fastest to slowest: existing customers and referrals, Google Business Profile, paid search, partnerships, then content and SEO. But before adding any of them, check three things — whether you follow up fast enough, whether you ever contact past customers, and whether your prices are too low. Those cost nothing and frequently produce more revenue than new leads would.
**Response time.** People contact several providers and buy from whoever answers first. If enquiries wait hours, you are losing customers you already paid to acquire.
**Your existing customer list.** People who have already paid you are the most likely to pay again, and reaching them costs almost nothing. Most service businesses never contact past customers at all.
**Your prices.** If you are busy but not profitable, more leads makes it worse. A price rise takes an afternoon and needs no marketing budget.
**1. Referrals and past customers — days.** Ask directly, and make it easy. The most underused channel in service businesses by a wide margin.
**2. Google Business Profile — weeks.** Complete the profile, add real photos, request reviews consistently. For local services this is often the highest-return work available.
**3. Paid search — days once live.** Immediate, controllable, and stops the moment you stop paying. Best when your average sale supports the cost per lead.
**4. Partnerships — weeks to months.** Businesses serving the same customer without competing. An accountant and a lawyer, a plumber and a builder. Slow to establish, cheap to maintain.
**5. Content and SEO — months.** The lowest long-run cost per lead and the longest wait. Start it now precisely because it is slow.
For local service businesses, reviews influence both the map pack ranking and whether someone chooses you once they see it. They cost nothing but the asking.
The reason most businesses have few is simply that nobody asks — or asks once, awkwardly, weeks later. Asking at the moment the work is finished and the customer is pleased, every time, changes the outcome.
We build the system — strategy, landing page, email sequences, ads, Google Business, content calendar, analytics — in 30 days for $1999, and you own all of it.
What we cannot promise is a number of leads. Anyone quoting one before seeing your market, margins and capacity is guessing. Results depend on your prices, your close rate and how fast you follow up — all things we can advise on and none of which we control.
Our offer is flat fee, no retainer, so the decision is a one-time one rather than an open-ended commitment.
Referrals and past customers, by a wide margin. Both cost time rather than money and are consistently underused.
Work backwards: revenue target divided by average sale gives customers needed; divide by close rate for leads. Most owners discover the number is smaller than they assumed.
You need somewhere that converts interest into contact. A complete Google Business Profile plus one strong landing page often outperforms a large unfocused website.
